This trouble you’re in isn’t punishment; it’s training, the normal experience of children…
#Heb 12:7 (The Message)
We are #children of #God. As it is with those of us who have #kids, God only wants good things and great joy for us, His children. He is a good God, who does good and loves us completely, unapologetically and fiercely. How misunderstood He is when we accuse Him of punishing us when we find ourselves in troubled times. There are times where He corrects us through His word and directs us through difficult but necessary times for our destiny and His purposes on the earth. And then there are times when life deals us a bad hand and He cares for us, #comforts us and gives us the #grace to get through. #Romans 8:28 says “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” He is not punishing you, He’s not trying to hurt you or overwhelm you with #hardship… But He will allow seasons that seem like “punishment” to #train us, hone our #faith, #grow our #endurance, firm up our stability, stimulate our #prayer… So take heart - you are a child of the #almighty, all loving, all #gracious God, and He is not punishing you but leading and guiding you down the path of His purpose and joy.

And now abide faith, hope, love… 1 Cor 13:13 (NKJV)
When every year passes I am reminded of how time seems to be getting faster. The faster it feels the more there seems to be behind me. It’s like society and time are moving at a dramatic rate and it won’t be long until my life is just a distant memory, a speck on the radar of history. But no matter what passes there are three things that will always remain. Three forces of our energy that are persistent. Three characteristics that transcend our lifetime and span into eternity. By nature these qualities go beyond ourselves anyway.
1) #Faith is the stepping out despite our understanding. It’s the #trusting in #Jesus based not on our feelings or own #awareness. It must go beyond us personally to reach out for the #God of eternity and is the effort to separate oneself and reach further than naturally possible. Faith is reaching into the #supernatural.
2) #Hope is often mistaken for what we can get. “I hope I get a new job next year” or “Jenny hopes to get a husband soon”. But hope is actually about #giving. When you give hope you’re filled with hope. But often those who live in hope are always looking to be filled. Paul quotes Jesus as saying “It’s more #blessed to give than to receive” in #Acts 20. Why is this principle true? Because when you give, be it hope, love, wisdom, time or otherwise, you provide a vacuum to be filled. Like blood pumping from the heart supplying oxygen, nutrients and healing for other parts of the body, it is always filled again, by the work of other organs and muscles with nutrient rich blood…for redistribution. Think on that for a moment.
3) #Love, like hope is much more powerful when given rather than sought after. Especially when it’s given without expectation of a return. Mother Teresa writes “I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only love”. This year make the things that last, most important in your life. Faith, hope and love. Do these and it will be a brilliant year for you…we are so sure of it! #devotional #christian #ashwednesday #pocketfuel
